They meet during the day but in the dark. In those alleyways that no one traverse into, even if they might smell like something awful and contain perhaps, actual things that rot.
They can't meet in the night, when Jongin was lantern lit and curled under someone else, a customer with a fake name, a customer with no name.
A customer that couldn't be Luhan, not with his meager income singing cover songs at bars when Jongin made a fortune for every kiss and another for every whimper and moan. Luhan hated it, for he wanted to own Jongin.
But he couldn't, not outside of the dark alleyway of the daytime.
When they meet they spoke in whispers, where Jongin would call him hyung, barely audible, barely a sound but to Luhan, it was everything. He would just be able to make Jongin's face there, filling up the parts made of shadows with his memory and feeling them with kisses that fluttered rather than stayed.
He wanted to hear Jongin say his name, say his name with an I love you and an I want you. Say and say and shout and scream and moan, but not whisper but he had to make do with just that. With whisper, quiet, scared and trembling in his arm.
And when they parted, Luhan got to see Jongin clearly just once, the sunlight hitting his face as he walked back into a world where he was Kai, a high-paid escort with debts to pay and Luhan was a poor man who couldn't buy Jongin out of Kai.

Anyway, down to business. Words cannot express how much I love this drabble. Despite its length, I was able to picture everything clearly in my mind. For some reason, reading it was like watching a short film play out filled with autumn colors, fleeting touches, a longing so deep it intensifies after every parting. Theirs is a beautiful love story, but painful at the same time, because they're not together, and probably never will [although a part of me is hopeful it ends happily in some perfect world LOL].
This was a very nice read, so thank you for writing this. It would be interesting to see this transformed into a full-blown story because I see potential in it, but that is just my personal opinion so please don't feel pressured ^^; And I see that you've written a bunch of other Lukai drabbles, so expect some comments from me when I get around to reading them ^o^

I'm really, really glad you think this of this silly drabble! I was wondering about writing a longer version as well and your comment really encouraged me for that ;; So I'm really grateful you actually came to find this journal.

I'm so happy you didn't freak out! I was really nervous of what your reaction would be, so you have no idea how relieved I was when I saw that it was well-received ;u; And yay for a longer version! If you mean unpolished by questionable, there's nothing a good edit doesn't solve, so don't fret over it too much ^^ I will hold you to that happy ending, then! I just want a Lukai longfic where nobody dies and they end up together, why is this so hard to look for ;_____; I have a lot I want to write for this ship too, so let's work hard on our WIPs! \(^o^)/

Is this your first time dabbling in RPF? ^^ I agree, I think part of what makes EXO enjoyable to write about is the number of members and ships. Sobs I don't think what I write is readable or even passable, but one day I will share with you u__u

LOL!! Don't worry, that's a really normal reaction by someone who doesn't ship them ^^; I think for some shippers, everything began in the MAMA MV because of that moment you mentioned, but for others it began as far back as the second teaser.
I actually didn't know they were from Seventeen until someone pointed it out, but I've always known those boys weren't Lukai because it never clicked to me ^^;
