The tux Keito wore was tailor-made, with the typical Tenshouin attention to detail and their love for for luxuries. It was tailor-made, with the best materials money could buy, because even the best man had to look his best on their only son's wedding day.
Yet Keito felt suffocated by the tux. The fine silk pressed against his body, tying him down to his place to the side of the altar. The velvet box that contained the ring he was to hand to his best friend pressed heavily against his body through the pocket of the well-made suit.
He wondered why, as he grasped for air instead of breathing.
“It's my wedding day Keito,” Eichi had said with a smile. With that smile, so characteristic of his childhood friend, that was in equal part calming and frustrating. “Why are you the one who's nervous?”
He wondered why, and couldn't come up with an answer.
He came up with a wish, at best. A wish, that he was like the small, bright-eyed omega who stood in a white tux across his best friend. If he had been him – if he had been him ---
If he had been him, then what?
The weight of the ring pushed down on his palm as he handed it to Eichi.
The brush of Eichi's fingers against his palm pressed against his, and Keito felt like he could fall.
